The Position Gaston County, One Of North Carolina’s Premier Communities With A AAA Credit Rating, Is Seeking An Experienced And Highly Regarded Professional To Serve As The County’s Next Finance Director. The Next Finance Director (Director) Will Have An Opportunity To Serve In One Of North Carolina’s Rapidly Growing Communities And Work Alongside A Team Of Exceptionally Talented Professionals. The Next Finance Director Will Be A Trusted Financial Advisor To The County Manager, Board Of County Commissioners, And Departments Working To Ensure The County’s Long-term Financial Stability And Report Directly To The Assistant County Manager. The Director Will Be An Analytical Thinker And Plan, Organize, Direct, And Manage The County’s Financial Activities While Overseeing The Strategic And Day-to-day Operations Of The County’s Finance Department. In This Capacity The Director Will Consistently And Proactively Collaborate With The Executive Team And All Department Directors, Applying The Practices Of Public Finance Administration. The Director Will Work To Ensure Consistent, Efficient, And Effective Financial Processes And Procedures Through The Use Of Technology; Develop New And Revise Existing Policies That Ensure Strict Compliance With Evolving Local, State, And Federal Regulations; And Implement Process Improvements While Supporting Employee Development. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Include Any Combination Of Education And Experience Equivalent To A Bachelor’s Degree In Accounting Or Finance From An Accredited College Or University And A Minimum Of Five Years Of Managerial Experience Is Required. Preferred Qualifications Include A Master’s Degree And A Certified Public Accountant Or Certified Public Finance Officer Designation. Experience With A GFOA-award-winning Budget And Financial Reporting, Long-term Financial Forecasting, And Considerable Experience With Financing Large Capital Projects Is Also Preferred. Work Within A Complex Local Government With Strong Financial Performance Is Also Strongly Preferred. Compensation And Benefits The Expected Hiring Range Is $175,000 - $200,000, Depending On Qualifications, With An Excellent Benefits Package.
